The Direction to Freedom

On the campus of Hampton there is a statue of Booker T. Washington an alumnus of the school. He is pointing to something. Where is he pointing? Well, the next picture you see is a tree. Under this tree is where the Emancipation Proclamation was first read in the south. Without the modern technology like we have today, this would have to be read in many other places to get the message out, particularly the end of slavery in the confederate states.

How many of us are still waiting to hear this message? Mr. Washington and others are pointing, but are we looking and following? By some of our actions, it will appear that some believe they are still slaves.

Those of us that know still needs to point and lead, however there are some that are content with slavery. Just like the Hebrews of Moses' time.

All I can say is either point, follow, or stay a slave.
