One of the best experiences about our tours to the southern and eastern states are the historical sites. You have seen the sites we visited in DC. Yesterday we were able to see locations of the Underground Railroad. Pictured here is a plaque dedicated to the Virginia 34. This plaque represents young men and women arrested for sitting in a white establishment. The President of the college bailed students out of jail using his own home as collateral.
It is very fascinating to me how involved young people were in the fight for freedom in the 60's. They fought for freedom against injustice and inequality.
Today our young people fight for freedom as well. They are fighting for the right to sleep in late, the right to watch TV, the right to have everything without working for it, and the right to personal entertainment. One fought for justice, the other freedom from accountability.
It was the fights of these former young people that helped to make a better lifestyle for us today. What will be the effects of the current fight for freedom? How will our lifestyle be influenced?
Who's fighting for today's inequalities and injustices? I know. The older people. You know why? The older people are the former young people of the 60's!!
We cannot forget where we came from>>>>>>> to get where were going. Crystal
